IMPORTANT NOTES

  • The membership rate is for 2019 membership. It is most smooth to receive the ATBC member rate by becoming a member or renewing the membership to receive the ATBC member rates. Please see the membership renewal page (65 USD and 45 USD for a high-income country regular and student member, respectively: 25 USD for a developing country member).
  • Fees are paid according to the Delegate’s country of affiliation. The list of high income countries is available here.
  • For all categories of registration, the Secretariat will charge the appropriate full rate if the delegate fails to provide the necessary information or proof. Registration will only be confirmed electronically upon receipt of FULL PAYMENT.
  • The Full Registration fees include admission to Main Conference Hall, Conference bag (which includes program), admission to Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception, coffee breaks and lunches, Closing Ceremony and ATBC Banquet on August 3 but not the optional tours, airport transfers and accommodations.
  • For all University Students, to complete the registration, a letter or any documentary proof from the relevant department or learning institution must be submitted to confirm the Student status. Further details about online registration steps are announced when registration website opens.
  • All participants must register online : payment can be made by credit card or bank transfer.

PAYMENT

  • All payment will be charged in USD.
  • Payment or proof of payment must be made in order to receive confirmation. We encourage payment to be made at the time of registration.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

  • Please note that all related bank charges, financial charges or credit card handling fee are to be borne by the delegates and are not to be deducted from the net fees payable to the Conference.
  • Official invoice and receipt will be provided only upon request.
  • International delegates can make payment by credit card and bank transfer.
  • Malagasy delegates can make payment by local check and bank transfer. In this case, payment can be made in MGA by using the exchange rate of the day.

CONFIRMATION

  • Registration will only be confirmed via e-mail upon receipt of FULL PAYMENT and CONFIRMED VALIDATION.
  • Please bring along the email confirmation and present it at the Registration Counter when collecting your delegate badge on the opening day of the conference (actual time and date will be informed in due course by email).
  • For payment made by bank transfer, please scan the receipt and send it by email at registration@atbc2019.org before 1stJune 2019.

CANCELLATION

  • Cancellation of registration must be done in writing and submitted to the ATBC 2018 Secretariat by email at registration@atbc2019.org.
  • Any cancellation received before 1 June 2019 will be charged a handling fee of USD100. The balance of the registration fees will be refunded after deducting other related fees and charges incurred in connection with such refunds, including cost of foreign exchange conversions, Credit Card cancellation and/or banking transaction.
  • Paid registration fee is not refundable after 1 June 2019 for whatever reasons,
  • No refunds will be issued for no-shows.
  • All refunds will be made in MGA at the prevailing foreign exchange rate.
  • Refund for cancellation will be made within three months after the Conference (from 30th July 2019 onwards).

LIABILITY/INSURANCE

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel insurance and medical insurance prior to the Conference.

The policy should include loss of fees through cancellation of your participation in the Congress itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. In the event of industrial disruptions or natural disasters the Conference Organizers and the Conference Secretariat cannot accept responsibility for any financial or other losses incurred by delegates. Nor can the Secretariat take responsibility for injury or damage to property or persons occurring during the Conference or associated activities. Insurance is the responsibility of the individual delegate.

VAHATRA GRANTS FOR MALAGASY PARTICIPANTS

Vahatra Association is offering grants to specifically support the participation of Malagasy students, professors, and researchers:

ATBC TRAVEL GRANTS

The Organizing Committee of the 56th Annual Meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation is offering a limited number of grants to help cover the costs of attending the ATBC2019 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, on 30 July to 3 August 2019. These grants, only given to ATBC members and with maximum subsidy of $500, is to help increase attendance of participants from developing countries to the annual meeting by providing funds for those in financial need. These grants are REIMBURSEMENT of expenditures in the name of the applicant, which will be conducted at the Antananarivo meeting based on receipts, such as an airplane ticket or hotel costs.

ATBC is committed to advancing diversity in its community; and applicants from all genders and cultures, and other traditionally under-represented groups, are encouraged to apply for these grants.

A separate granting scheme based on a donation from the Evans-Meggers Fund is specifically to support the participation of female scientists that are ATBC members from the South American countries of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. These grants, also with a maximum subsidy of $500, are REIMBURSEMENT of expenditures in the name of the applicant, which will be conducted at the Antananarivo meeting based on receipts, such as an airplane ticket or hotel costs.
